Upcoming Event
New York, NY, May 2026 — On Thursday, May 28, at 7:30 PM, acclaimed pianist, composer, and writer Carli Muñoz presents TRUCE: Nocturne, an intimate, genre-blurring evening of poetry, live piano, and conversation at The Ellington Room, Manhattan Plaza.
Neither concert nor conventional reading, TRUCE: Nocturne unfolds as a curated salon—where music, language, and lived experience converge in real time. Built around Muñoz’s forthcoming poetry collection TRUCE, the evening invites audiences into a shared space of reflection, rhythm, and presence.
Carli Muñoz presents a new salon experience in New York City: An intimate evening of poetry, piano, and living memory.
Muñoz, whose decades-long career spans international jazz performance, composition, and hospitality, brings a deeply personal voice to the stage—one shaped by a life lived across music, culture, and cities. In TRUCE: Nocturne, that voice expands beyond the piano into language, memory, and philosophical inquiry.
The program features guest poet Robert C. Ford, known as “The Wall Street Poet,” whose work offers a sharp, contemporary counterpoint. Ford notes, “New York teaches us to move without stopping. TRUCE: Nocturne asks us to stop, without leaving.”
Bassist Eric Wheeler joins for live musical interplay, while Mía Muñoz appears in a subtle, movement-based presence that blurs the line between performance and apparition. The evening also includes a musical moment by composer Gene McBride.
Structured in movements rather than acts, the 90-minute experience flows from solo piano into spoken word, guided conversation, and back into music—allowing the audience to inhabit the performance, rather than simply observe it.
“This is not about presenting finished ideas,” says Muñoz. “It’s about creating a room where something can happen—between people, between notes, between lines.”
With TRUCE: Nocturne, Muñoz inaugurates what he envisions as an ongoing series of salon-style gatherings in New York and beyond—intimate, recurring events centered on artistic exchange and shared attention.
